This old Cottonwood acts as a sentry in the bend leading to the entry to the Mississippi River, where the Trempealeau River joins the main channel just above Lock and Dam Six. As I was camped near Fort Jackson, Lousiana the sun reflected upon the clouds in brilliant gold hues, in contrast to the rich lines of the reeds near my boat. A plasma-type figure emerged in a break in the clouds and reflected into the water below me. Everything was poised for the final stage of my journey and I was ready.
